Special-Situation Gas Guns

The standard 1,500 psi Pressure Pulse Gas Gun works best in most applications, which makes it the most popular Sage Technologies gas gun for shooting fluid levels. But special situations may require special gas gun alternatives. In addition to the 1,500 and 3,000 psi Pressure Pulse Gas Guns, Sage offers several options:

Sage High Pressure Gas Gun - 5,000 psi

Sage High Pressure Gas Gun The Sage High Pressure Gas Gun allows testing in wells with up to 5,000 psi working pressure. Gas moving from the well into the gas gun is used for the fluid level shot, so compressed bottle gas is not required. The gun utilizes a short-stemmed high-pressure internal microphone and two turn valves to complete the shot.

Included with the Sage High Pressure Gas Gun: padded carrying case, 5,000 psi gauge, O-ring kit and tools, and an extra high-pressure microphone.Sage High Pressure Gas Gun

Like the Pressure Pulse Gas Guns, the Sage High Pressure Gas Gun connects to the Acoustic Fluid Logger III or the Acoustic Fluid Logger IV via a microphone cable, which delivers the echo from the fluid level shot to the fluid logger for processing.

For more on the Sage High Pressure Gas Gun, see Appendix E on pages 73-78 of the AFL IV Manual on the Downloads tab.

Sage Remote-Fire Gas Gun

Sage Remote Fire Gas GunFor customers with special applications where firing a gas gun onsite is not optimum, the Sage Remote Fire Gas Gun is their option. This device utilizes a robust external microphone with a single internal crystal.

For use with the AFL IV or AFL IV with Dynamometer only, this remote fire gun requires an extra cable connection, and  fires using a solenoid when you shoot the shot, using the Sage AFL software. Included with the Remote-Fire Gas gun: 25-foot cable, microphone repair kit, and microphone cable.

Sage External Microphone

Sage External MicrophoneThe Sage External Microphone can be used to create greater sensitivity in difficult well environments. This microphone, with its included adapter, may be used with all Sage gas guns, including the Pressure Pulse Guns  - 1,500 and 3,000 psi,  the Sage High Pressure Gas Gun and Sage Remote-Fire Gas Gun. The cylindrical microphone is shown in the left of the above photo, attached to the Remote-Fire Gas Gun.

Included with the Sage External Microphone - One extra internal crystal and O-rings for microphone repair.  An operator's manual is also included.

Supplies:

See supplies and repair kits for the Special Situation Gas Guns at the Supplies tab.

All Special Situation Gas Guns are compatible with Acoustic Fluid Logger III, Acoustic Fluid Logger IV and Acoustic Fluid Logger IV with Dynamometer.

Special situation gas guns:

All Sage Gas Guns are pressure rated. A 1,500 psi pressure rating means that the gas gun properly maintained and used in accordance with Sage Technologies intentions will be safe to use at well surface pressures of up to 1,500 psi.

Most applications require no more than the standard 1,500 psi Pressure Pulse Gas Gun, making it our most popular gas gun for shooting fluid levels.

But special situations require special gas gun alternatives.

The Sage High Pressure Gas Gun is lighter weight than our standard gas gun, and includes a short-stemmed internal microphone designed to find fluid levels on wells with up to 5,000 psi.

The Sage External Microphone is made to be utilized with the Pressure Pulse 1,500 and 3,000 psi Gas Guns, in wells where greater sensitivity or easy crystal replacement is required.
